Three types of video discs that can be created out of the conversion:
1. Video DVD using standard MPEG-2.
2. Super Video CD (SVCD) or standard CDs using MPEG-2.
3. Video CDs (VCD) or standard recordable CDs using MPEG-1.
Influencing ones choice for DVD:
A VCD or SVCD can play in any CD or DVD drive in a PC. It can also play in an ordinary DVD player like the ones we see connected to TVs. VCDs may be more compact but quality is not as good as DVDs. Video DVDs will play only in PC based DVD drive or set top DVD players. DVD is preferred because of its storage capacity. Video capture devices like MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 usually save a captured video transferred to the PC in several formats. DVD stands for Digital Versatile/ Video Disc and stores up to two hours of high quality videos.
